Description
|
| The new facility houses all District functions in four distinct buildings. The main building cnsists of the District Administrative and Engineering offices as well as a Board Room. The second building consists of the Operations shops and crew areas as well as training, the lunchroom, and training areas. The two buildings are connected by a courtyard with outside seating and eating areas. The third building includes the equipment maintenance shop, the welding shop, and the warehouse. The last building is for enclosed storage of high dollar vehicles and equipment. |

| The Orange County Fire Authority is comprised of twenty-two agencies throughout Orange County. The Authority provides consolidated services for these agencies including training, vehicle maintenance, facilities maintenance, clothing repair, cleaning and warehousing. The entire complex is comprised of an administration and training building, a vehicle maintenance building, (automotive and fire apparatus), a materials management building (shops and warehouse), and a manipulative training center (burn tower, burn props, rescue training, drivers training).

| The facility will have approximately 230,000 s.f. under roof and will be located on a 13 acre site. The facility elements include administration, shops, personnel spaces, equipment maintenance, central stores, and heated vehicle storage. The yard areas include a fueling station, granular material storage, green waste storage, stock pile areas for sweepings and millings, pipe storage, and a salt/sand enclosure for 20,000 tons of material. The Public Works facility will be constructed as part of a campus type complex that will include a 112,000 s.f. Army National Guard Operational Maintenance Shop. |

| The project included three new facilities and a parking lot for the new coaches. The main facility is comprised of a Transportation and Administration section including fixed route and Dial-a-Ride services and driver’s areas; and a maintenance area including inspection bays, running repair bays, support shops, lubrication distribution, emergency generator, and parts storage. The second building included the fuel lanes and support areas for the fuelers. The third building included an automated bus washer and a chassis wash.

Description
|
| The facility is located on an irregular shaped property just out of downtown St. Paul. The shape and grade of the site posed a difficult challenge to the design team. All components of the operation are contained in a single building. The first level of the facility includes fare retrieval, bus parking (185 coaches), vehicle maintenance operations, fuel and wash operations, and facilities maintenance. The second level of the facility includes the administration and transportation offices, the lunchroom, driver’s room, lockers and showers. The facility is designed to house 185 coaches with maintenance capabilities for 200 coaches. |

Description

| The first floor of the facility includes Maintenance personnel offices and support spaces as well as Operations personnel support spaces such as locker rooms, restroom and shower facilities, and break areas. The first floor also includes Facilities Maintenance shop and storage spaces as well as those areas required for the maintenance and repair of light rail vehicles such as parts storage, support shops, four repair bays with lower level and upper level access, wheel truing bay, truck repair shop, two standard repair bays, body repair bay and shop, paint bay, automated wash bay, and interior cleaning area. The second floor of the facility includes all Administrative and Operations offices, training and conference facilities, as well as parts storage mezzanine, and additional support shops for maintenance and repair of LRV rooftop components. The project included a very atypical design for the upper level work platforms as well as a complicated interlocking system for access to these platforms as well as operation of several pieces of equipment in the facility. The project also included temporary office and shop spaces for the Maintenance Of Way personnel.
